Do rebates cover turf?
Usually not. Mesa says conversions adding only artificial turf do not qualify, and Chandler says areas converted to turf will not qualify. Most other Valley programs require living plants. Queen Creek is the exception, allowing up to 1,000 square feet of turf with enough plant canopy.
Every program requires city approval before any grass is removed. If you want a rebate, apply first. See the details for your city.
How to compare quotes
Look past the price per square foot. Ask every installer to put these in writing:
- Base depth and how many compaction layers
- Drainage plan and grading
- Haul-off of the old grass and dirt
- Turf product, weight and UV warranty
- Infill type and amount
That's where low quotes cut corners, and where turf fails a few summers later.
Market ranges reflect published pricing from Phoenix-area installers, October 2026. Rebate rules from City of Mesa, City of Chandler and Town of Queen Creek. Programs change; confirm with your city before you start.
