Straight answers about turf in Arizona.
How much does artificial turf cost in Phoenix?
Installed turf in the Phoenix area typically runs $6 to $12 per square foot. Our lawns start at $7 per square foot installed, and most 500 square foot backyards land between $3,500 and $5,500.
What's included in the price?
Removing the old grass, grading, a compacted base, the turf, infill, and haul-off. Rock or concrete removal, drainage work and specialty infill are quoted separately when a yard needs them.
How long does installation take?
Most yards take 1 to 3 days on site once your measure is done and any HOA approval is in.
Can my HOA stop me from installing turf?
Not if it allows natural grass. Arizona law (A.R.S. § 33-1819) says an HOA can't prohibit artificial turf on your property, though it can set reasonable rules on how it looks and is installed. Approval often takes 1 to 2 weeks.
Will my city rebate pay for artificial turf?
Usually not. Mesa and Chandler explicitly exclude turf, and most Valley programs require living plants. Every program requires approval before any grass is removed, so ask us before demo day and we'll point you to your city's rules.
Does artificial turf get hot?
Yes. In direct Arizona sun, turf can get hotter than concrete. Shade, a quick hose rinse, lighter blade colors and cooling infill all help. We'll recommend what fits your yard and how you use it.
Is turf good for dogs?
Yes, with the right build. Pet turf uses fast-draining backing and odor-fighting infill. Rinse it regularly and check the surface temperature on hot afternoons before letting pets out.
How much does a backyard putting green cost?
Our putting greens start at $14 per square foot with a $2,500 project minimum. Most 200 to 300 square foot greens run $3,000 to $5,500.
How long does artificial turf last in Arizona?
Quality turf installed on a proper base typically lasts 8 to 15 years or more in Arizona sun. The base and the product's UV rating matter most.
Do I need a permit?
Typical residential turf installs don't need a building permit. Very large projects (a tenth of an acre or more) need a Maricopa County dust control permit.
How should I compare turf quotes?
Look past the roll price. Ask for the base depth, how many compaction layers, drainage plan, haul-off, turf weight and infill type in writing. That's where cheap installs cut corners.
Why does my quote show more square feet than my yard?
Turf comes in 15 foot wide rolls, so odd shapes create some waste that has to be included. We'll show you the layout so it's clear.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Transform your lawn with $0 down. Our buy now, pay later financing lets you start your yard now and spread the cost out over time. Financing is on approved credit and terms are set by the lender. Ask us at your free measure and we'll walk you through it.
